Civil Pooch provides private obedience training and can help you work with common dog behavior problems using positive, humane and scientifically proven methods.. John is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) ( via ccpdt.org) as well as CTC from the SF SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers. About John and his dogs John specializes in working with difficult dogs. He is shown here with his dogs Juno, Preston and Karley. Juno is an ongoing project who started out with aggression issues and who now is able to be a "Demo Dog" in obedience classes and attends occasional 'fun matches.' Juno is not perfect, but her transformation is a testimonial to the power of Positive Reinforcement Training. - On-call trainer at the San Francisco SPCA. This includes pre- and post-adoption counseling, dog intake evaluations, obedience class instruction, training volunteers and kennel dog behavior modification
- Taught Basic Obedience, Adolescent obedience, Puppy, Small Dog, Growly Dog and volunteer classes at San Francisco SPCA and, in the past, at Berkeley Humane Society
- Completed Operant Conditioning Workshop (chicken camp) with Bob Bailey in January of 2007.
- Certificate of Training and Counseling, San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers in Fall of 2005, with honors. Studied under Jean Donaldson, Gina Phairas, Janis Bradley and Kim Moeller. Intensive course including training, counseling, critical thinking, dog development, behavior modification and class curriculum development.

- Assisted in aggressive dog consults and volunteered in Canine Socialization Groups at San Francisco Animal Care and Control in 2006.
John and Juno participate in Agility, Rally and Tracking fun matches.
John's dog, Karly, below left, is a 10-year-old Aussie-Something mix and loves long walks on the beach. 
New Dog! John now has three dogs. He recently adopted Preston. John and Preston will compete in Agility, Rally and Obedience competitions. Preston's call name is Hisaw Starswept Darwin's Grin
