From 2005 - 2009, John Buginas taught at the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers. He formed the academy’s applied behavior analysis study group and coordinated the academy's intern program. Until the Academy closed in November of 2009, John taught professional dog trainers hands-on-training methods, behavior evaluations, learning theory (skinner/pavlov), critical thinking, and how to train a chicken!

In 2003, John adopted Juno, a reactive dog. After seeing traditional training methods fail and Juno's reactivity get worse, John enrolled in
a positive reinforcement training class. Six weeks after being escorted out of the room for special coaching, Juno graduated. John was hooked on positive reinforcement training and spent the next few years studying with San Francisco bay area trainers while volunteering at local shelters. He graduated with honors from the SF/SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers in 2005, where he earned his CTC.  He is also a Professional  Member of the APDT (#66917).
